Ford Raptor 2024 R:
The first generation of the Raptor appeared in 2009 as a creation of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT). A truck to conquer the challenging terrain of the western deserts.
The 2010 SVT Raptor came to market as a new generation of high-performance pickup trucks. It featured a wider body, unique suspension for sandy trails, and a powerful V8 engine, laying the foundation for a revolutionary era in off-road driving. It had 411 HP of power from a 6.2-liter V8.
Over the years, Ford continued to refine the 4×4 Raptor, introducing technological advances to its suspension and wider axles with special tires. The second generation in 2017 showed an attitude change, leaving the V8 for a high-performance EcoBoost V6 engine with more power than the previous engine.
This model has solidified its legacy by conquering the Baja 1000 race, demonstrating its prowess in the extreme conditions of Baja California. The victory underscored the Raptor’s durability and reinforced its reputation as a genuine off-road champion.
The new 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the most potent all-terrain truck. A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 returns, producing 720 HP. With great anxiety, I now wait for it to reach the dealerships so I can test it thoroughly. I will let you know if it’s the new king of the trails.

The Ford Raptor R Makes 720 Horsepower For 2024

With production of the Ram 1500 TRX set to wrap up at the end of the year, Ford’s F-150 Raptor R is losing its biggest rival. Instead of settling on its newfound dominance, Ford announced Wednesday it’s reworked the V-8-powered Raptor for the 2024 model year, bringing engine output up to a TRX-beating 720 horsepower.

At the heart of the Raptor R sits the supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V-8 engine borrowed from the S550 Shelby GT500. Aside from a smaller supercharger pulley, a reworked oil pan, and a set of cast exhaust manifolds, the mill is as it was in pony car duty. That said, Ford’s work stuffing the engine in the F-150 previously saw output drop to 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, down from 760 hp in the GT500. That put the truck’s output just behind the ratings from its crosstown rival, whose supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 provided 702 hp and 650 lb-ft. That is no longer the case, with Ford revisiting its tuning setup.

By reducing inlet losses and enhancing engine calibration, the Blue Oval was able to pull 20 additional horsepower out of the Predator. While torque remains unchanged, the reworked tune will also make the usable torque band wider, according to Ford.

The truck is more than capable of handling the tweaked output, with Ford previously enhancing the Raptor’s chassis for V-8 service. The Raptor R is also already backed by a more robust gearbox and torque converter setup, as well as a reworked front axle, and a new aluminum driveshaft. Should that power actually bring more speed out in the desert, a set of Fox Live Valve shocks and 37-inch tires are there to make short work of the terrain. Whether or not you’ll actually feel a difference of 20 hp in a 6077 lb machine, it can’t hurt to try and win back some bragging rights.
