GV70

In the ever-evolving landscape of electric vehicles, the Genesis Electrified  GV70 emerges as a beacon of innovation and elegance.

At the heart of the Genesis Electrified  GV70 lies a meticulously crafted interior that effortlessly marries form and function. I witnessed the creative work of Luc Donckerwolke, chief of creative and design for the brand, with elegant concepts early in the brand’s life. Together with SangYup Lee, Genesis Global Design leader, they have created a design language that exudes presence and splendor in the new SUVs, the GV70 and GV80.

I have been impressed by the interiors of the Genesis products.

The Electrified GV70 validates the high quality offered by the Korean manufacturer. The interior ambiance seamlessly blends modernity and comfort with premium materials and refinement. The all-white leather interior car I drove around Los Angeles uplifted my senses more than once.

As you expect from a luxury automobile, the latest tech is showcased on the infotainment screen. This tablet arises from the center dash. So, the overall design of the whole dash from door to door is delicate. It is 15.4 inches wide and very intuitive to use. There is a Wi-Fi spot and four USBs, and what I like best is a Lexicon audio system with 15 incredible speakers. Currently, it needs a cable to connect to Android Auto or Apple Cars Play; I expect the next version to do without it.

The car is smooth and quiet, as I expected. It is a new experience as the vehicle rolls effortlessly through the busy streets of Los Angeles. Under the car sits a platform that holds the batteries in place. Two motors, one on each axle, generate almost 430 HP with a tremendous torque of over 500 Ft. Lbs. You step on the pedal, and the car darts ahead. If that is not enough, hold a “boost” button on the steering wheel for a few seconds to increase the power and acceleration.

As I mentioned, you must have a charger at home to “live” properly with an EV car. This Genesis benefits from a Hi-Voltage platform that allows fast charging when available on public or paid chargers. Some car critics complain about the car’s 200-230 mile range, but it is unlikely that you will drive that much on a single day in Los Angeles.

Quality and customer service have been very good for this automaker. The price starts in the low seventies. I would pick this above a BMW or Cadillac EV of the same size. Based on my experience, this car is worthy of the awards it has received.
