Another star is born in Los Angeles
Mercedes Benz G-Class G580
Franklin Canyon Park covers an area of 605 acres situated between the San Fernando Valley and Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. The park has a rich history related to oil and water, which played a significant role in the development of Los Angeles. In 1914, William Mulholland and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) constructed a reservoir in upper Franklin Canyon to distribute water from the Owens Valley. The Doheny family, who owned an oil empire, used the canyon as a summer retreat and for grazing and watering their cattle. The surrounding canyons became the world’s most expensive real estate.
From this historical location, the new version of the iconic Mercedes Benz G-Class was launched to the world. The park provided the perfect backdrop for this go-anywhere vehicle with its rugged-off 4×4. A 1979 first civilian version was on the trail to the event. It was proof of why the design has stood the test of time. The G-Wagen’s unmistakable silhouette has made it one of the most sought-after vehicles globally. Other versions of earlier G-wagen, like a truck, a six-wheeler, a cabriolet, and a rare early AMG model, were found along the trail between trees, demonstrating the purpose of the design.
Leading names from the music, fashion, film, and culture industries attended the exclusive event. Trevor Noah, Reese Cooper, Bradley Cooper, Formula 1 driver George Russell, Kendall Jenner, Tracee Ellis Ross, Anastasia Karanikolaou, Selma Blair, Ciara, Zack Bia, Joseph Lee, Madelaine Petsch, Saweetie, Siobhan Bell, Veneda Carter, Kacy Hill, Aminé, Evan Ross, Nigel Sylvester, Brandon Thomas Lee, Joyce Wrice, Chase B, Justine Skye, Brent Faiyaz, Miles Chamley-Watson, Zane Lowe, Michael Uzowuru, Fahri Yardım, Bakar and many more attended to see the world debut of the all-new electric Mercedes Benz G-580 with EQ Technology, the ultimate luxury experience vehicle.
A meticulously designed platform floating on the lake unveiled the blue G580 Edition ONE amidst light projections, smoke, and beats from musician Travis Scott. Bettina Fetzer, Vice President of Communications & Marketing Mercedes Benz AG, said, “Los Angeles is famous for its legends, which is why we chose to reveal our new electric G-Class here in Beverly Hills. For over four decades, the G-Class has shown its ability to go almost anywhere on the planet,” adding that the G-Class is a true legend. The culinary feast and specialty drinks added to the unique experience.
The new electric Geländewagen (G-wagon) boasts four electric motors generating 580 Horsepower and an electric motor on each wheel, enabling the car to rotate on the spot. The interior is sumptuous and comfortable and features a large digital screen.
Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG and Head of Mercedes-Benz G-Class, said that the electric G-Class can do everything the G we know can do – and then some. It can wade deeper, and with the show-stopping G-TURN, it continues to amaze. The electric G-Class marks an essential chapter for Mercedes-Benz as a leader in electric drive.
The new G-Class retains its look, interior space, capabilities, and luxury appeal, making it the ultimate go-anywhere SUV in Los Angeles, and the world, for a select group of enthusiasts.
