California’s first vineyards were planted by Padre Junipero Serra in Southern California. In 1769, Serra planted wine grapes at Mission San Diego de Alcala to produce sacramental wine. Then, in the early 1830s, Jean-Louis Vigner planted the first commercial vineyard in Los Angeles. In the early 1970’s, a few lots of land started vines, taking advantage of the weather and the winemaking potential. The Temecula Valley is located between the Pacific Ocean and the Mojave Desert. As the hot air rises in the desert, it creates a vacuum effect, drawing in cold Pacific breezes through the Rainbow Gap. The resulting warm days and cool nights allow grapevines to thrive. The well-draining, decomposed granite soils cause the vines to struggle, creating balanced and complex wines. For the Doffo family, winemaking is a profession, and a passion passed down through generations. By seeing how the wine is made, and how much pride they take in producing their Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, you are guaranteed that the wine they produce is top-notch. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a true expression of Temecula’s terroir, bursting with bold flavors of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and hints of oak. It entices the palate with its depth and complexity. What sets Cabernet Sauvignon apart is its impeccable balance and structure, with velvety tannins providing a smooth mouthfeel, while well-integrated acidity lends brightness and vitality to each sip. The wine is aged for 20 months in 83% French oak and 17% American oak, resulting in unparalleled elegance and finesse. It is one of the best cabs in California.
