Writers Bloc Presents Rick Steves

February 8 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Who doesn’t dream of having Rick Steves’ life?

HEALTH & SAFETY: WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE INDOORS FOR OUR EVENTS. THANK YOU.

Who doesn’t dream of having Rick Steves’ life? Traveling throughout the world for a living, cranking out best-selling guidebooks, and hosting one of the most enduring shows on PBS? Irresistible. His appeal crosses generations, demographics, politics, and those who favor wine over beer. So how did Steves catch that travel bug? In his new book, On the Hippie Trail, Istanbul to Katmandu: The Making of a Travel Writer, he tells us of this transformative journey. Forty five years later, he reflects on that trip, including adventures only a guy like Steves could get away with– in Tehran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Nepal.

Steves will not only discuss The Hippie Trail, but will discuss the concept of travel as a political act, about the need to get out of our comfort zones and talk to people who live where we travel. Only then can we develop empathy and return home with a broadened cultural and social perspective.

Moderator to be announced.
