Yerusha Academy’s Wisdom School, and The Lilith Institute present: “Wisdom of the Mothers: Celebrating Matrilineal and Matriarchal Spiritual Traditions.”
This is a collaborative virtual event co-hosted by Yerusha and The Lilith Institute. On April 28 & 29, 2025, this two-day symposium will gather scholars, cultural theorists, activists, community leaders, and practitioners from diverse fields to explore the legacy and contemporary relevance of matrilineal and matriarchal spiritual traditions.
This symposium will provide a platform for presentations, panels, rituals, and interactive discussion groups, addressing the intersection of history, culture, and spirituality in matriarchal practices. Topics will include anthropology, sociology, theology, arts, and activism, fostering a multidisciplinary dialogue that honors these traditions while exploring their enduring influence.
Our Vision
The “Wisdom of the Mothers” symposium envisions a world where the wisdom of matrilineal and matriarchal spiritual traditions is recognized, celebrated, and integrated into contemporary society. By creating an interdisciplinary and inclusive platform, the symposium seeks to inspire individuals and communities to honor these traditions, foster greater understanding across cultures, and apply their timeless teachings to address modern challenges. This vision aspires to spark a renewed appreciation for the vital role of matriarchal wisdom in building a more compassionate, equitable, and spiritually connected world.
Meet Our Keynote Speaker
“THE WISDOM OF MOTHER LAW”
Max Dashu founded the Suppressed Histories Archives (www.suppressedhistories.net) in 1970 to research and document women’s history and heritages from the most ancient times to the present, globally. She is internationally known for her expertise on iconography, matricultures and female spheres of power; medicine women, witches, and the witch hunts; and the interconnections between patriarchy, conquest, and systems of domination. She is the author of Witches and Pagans: Women in European Folk Culture, 700-1100 and Women in Greek Mythography: Pythias, Melissae and Titanides. Her forthcoming book, Magna Mater, Paulianity, and the Imperial Church, looks at church-state authoritarianism and persecutions. She also creates videos, such as Woman Shaman: the Ancients, on world spiritual traditions.
