A great and stylish sedan
KIA Stinger

  •  Some cars look great. From every angle, they exhibit a certain feel and shape that your eyes are drawn to it. The KIA Stinger was designed in Germany by renowned designer Peter Schreyer, and it is one of those cars.  Since its launch in 2017, it has improved in performance on each refresh and today is a fierce competitor to BMW in performance with a much better look as well.
  • This is a sedan with an upscale interior and is comfortable for long drives on twisty roads.  A truly Gran Turismo type of car that can get you there fast. It is available with two engines, and both are powerful. There is a 2.5-liter turbo with 300 HP and a V6 with twin-turbo that makes almost 375 HP. Both have quick responses, and the AWD system offers plenty of grip on the mountain roads.  As I drove it, I liked to downshift the transmission and hear the engine roar. You can select from 3 engine/transmission modes by twisting a knob next to the shifter. There is an "Eco" setting that saves fuel and shifts pretty quickly to maximize the engine torque. A "Comfort" setting adjusts the suspension so that you can enjoy a softer feel over bumps. And then you have the "Sport" setting where the gears take longer to shift, and the engine comes alive. There is an option to customize the settings to get the car to perform the way you like. The feeling you get is of a sporty car with good steering feel as it turns left and right at speed. The Stinger  GT comes with Brembo brakes (well known in the racing world), and they stop the car without much effort.  When you accelerate the Stinger you can feel the pull like not too many cars can.
  • The car comes standard with navigation, an 8.0-inch infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ready, dual climate zones, phone charging pad, and more.  UVO is KIA's infotainment system that is easy to use, and it allows for a  quick connection to your phone. Additionally, this KIA has lots of driver assistance gadgets. It includes automatic high-beam headlamps, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, and a camera on each side that displays on your dash what is next to you when you put your turn signal on.
  • Like most luxury cars of today, the audio system in this car is excellent. Kia worked with Harman/Kardon audio to develop a unique design for this Stinger.  I admit that I have stayed at the driveway after a long drive, just listening to my favorite music before getting into the house.
  • KIA vehicles are at the top of the quality index and reports, even ahead of brands that you think are better. The paint quality, the fit and finish, and the quiet cabin tell you that this brand keeps getting stronger every year.  The base model starts at $34,000, but a Stinger GT with a good option package can be purchased for around $49,000.  Other than the higher fuel consumption and the not-so-comfortable rear seats, the rest is hard to argue about.  The KIA Stinger is getting ready for a new model, and I wonder what they will improve without having to raise the price.  It is already a very good car.
