How To Perfect Your Pout With Red Lipstick For Date Night
8 Steps To Help You Perfect That Pout:
1. Ace The Base
A cardinal lipstick rule that we cannot stress enough on is starting with a clean ad smooth base. If your lips are dry and flakey, it will show under your lipstick and steal the show. Use a lip scrub or an old toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips, so you’ll have a smooth and clean surface to work with. Exfoliating will also make your lips plump because of the increased circulation.
2. Glide On Some Lip Balm
After your lips and smooth and soft, put on a thin layer of lip balm to restore moisture. If you skip this step, you’ll find your lips feeling dryer than usual when you do wear lipstick, this is because exfoliating takes away the moisture from your lips.
3, Blot Blot Blot
Now that your lips are nice and moisturised, wait a minute or two for the moisture to penetrate your lips. After this, get a blotting sheet or a tissue paper and blot your lips. This removes any excess product which could cause your lipstick to fade faster. The point is to have lips that are moisturised enough, but not overly slathered with lip balm.
4. Bring In The Lip Liner
Red lipstick can do a lot of good things to your lips, including defining them. This gives you the freedom to line your lips as you please, even if you want to overline and exaggerate them. If you find that your red lipstick tends to bleed, using a lip liner will also help in preventing this from happening. So, go on and draw yourself a prominent cupid bow, after all red lipstick demands that you go all out.
5. Conceal Those Imperfections
To make your new lip line look more natural, use foundation around your lips to further enhance your lips and clean up any imperfections.
6. Use A Lip Brush For Application
Now comes the fun part! Using a flat and tapered lip brush to apply the lipstick, use swift motions along your lip liner and colour in between the lines. If you skip the brush to apply lipstick around the edges, you might risk messing up your clean and crisp outline. The brush will reach the contours of your lips better than a bulky tip.
7. Blot Again
Once you’ve got your first layer down, seal it in place with a blotting sheet. You can even dust a thin layer of setting powder if you don’t have a blotting sheet.
8. Va-va-voom All Night Long
Apply your second layer of lipstick, as you did the first. You can even go in with lip gloss or a lighter shade of red lipstick in the middle on your lip to create more dimension.
